NCMIC Cares
The Causes We Hold Close to Our Hearts
Each year, we support more than 100 organizations by giving our time and talent, as well as monetary donations. You’ll find our team supporting organizations and causes we’re passionate about, including:
- Big Brothers, Big Sisters
- Meals from the Heartland
- Habitat for Humanity
- Junior Achievement of Central Iowa
- Cystic Fibrosis
- Children’s Cancer Connection
- Bravo Gala
Our Charitable Contributions Committee helps steer decisions on where our donations go. Together, we ensure that we’re taking care of the communities where we live and work.
Organizations
Big Brothers and Big Sisters
Supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa is an ongoing relationship for many of our employees. Through the workplace mentoring program, middle school students are matched with NCMIC employees for monthly get-togethers that include fun activities as well as an opportunity to learn about the work world.
Find out more about this special activity in this WHO TV segment from Hello Iowa.
Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity
Since 2007, NCMIC has collaborated with Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity to make homeownership a reality. Panel builds in our parking lot and onsite home builds have been an important part of giving back to our community.

Meals from the Heartland
With sleeves rolled up and hair nets in place, NCMIC employees have been teaming up to package Meals from the Heartland at onsite events (pre-COVID) to help save children one meal at a time. Meals from the Heartland has been a mainstay of NCMIC’s charitable giving efforts for 12 years.

Boys & Girls Club of Central Iowa
At the end of the school day, most kids head home to start homework and then to after school activities. It’s a regular routine – but not one that every child has. NCMIC is proud to support Boys & Girls Club of Central Iowa and all they do to provide safety and support after school as well as meals, role models, organized sports and access to the arts.

ChildServe
When it comes to taking care of others, ChildServe serves a unique and much-needed role for thousands of children in Iowa. Each year, approximately 4,600 children benefit from ChildServe’s expertise in pediatric rehabilitation and care for children and young adults who have a wide variety of developmental delays, disabilities, injuries, and other special healthcare needs.

Cystic Fibrosis
When the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was established in 1955, people born with the disease weren't expected to live much past the age of 5. Today, people with CF are living into their 30s, 40s, and beyond. Supporting CF has been part of NCMIC’s charitable giving efforts for many years. NCMIC staff regularly participate in the CF’s Shoot for a Cure event and other fundraising activities during the year.
