Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa has named NCMIC Group, Inc. an Inspiring Business for Women as part of its fifth annual Inspiring Women of Iowa event, scheduled for May 14.
The event honors and celebrates women of “Courage, Confidence and Character” as well as those who “make up the community of support around them.” This is the first year NCMIC has been recognized as an Inspiring Business for Women and joins six other businesses in the category.
NCMIC’s active Women’s Group — a group of female leaders who come together to discuss local and workplace issues and provide development and advancement opportunities — was a factor in the decision. Other key reasons NCMIC was named an Inspiring Business for Women include annual pay equity and talent reviews, support of working mothers with work from home policies, participation in the EPIC Corporate Challenge, and a commitment to supporting women-focused organizations in the community.
Traci Galligan, SVP of Human Resources, said NCMIC is not only committed to attracting and recruiting women to the company, but also to helping its female employees grow and become leaders in their communities.
“I’m so proud to work for a company that not only supports my growth and ambition, but also that of my colleagues and others in the community,” said Galligan. “It is inspiring to work for NCMIC and we are honored that Girls Scouts recognizes that, too.”
Chick Herbert, SVP Enterprise Organizational Development and a 2020 finalist for the Inspiring Advocate for Women award, echoed Galligan’s sentiment.
“At NCMIC, we continuously strive to maintain and enhance a diverse and inclusive culture, which includes actively supporting women internal and external to the organization,” he said. “It’s not just what we do, it’s who we are. We take care of our own in ways that inspire us all every day.”
The 2021 Inspiring Women of Iowa Event will be a hybrid format with both virtual and in-person options held on May 14 at 12 p.m. at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center Ballroom, 833 5th Ave., Des Moines. For more information, visit https://www.inspiringwomenofiowa.com/.
