Michael Massey, DCMichael Massey has more than 30 years of experience working within insurance, regulatory, and healthcare delivery systems. Throughout his career, he has served in a wide range of roles, including in-house claims and policy consultant for large national payers, claims reviewer for personal injury carriers, liaison to the largest commercial health insurance carrier in his state, and subject matter expert for a nationwide managed care network. These roles have provided him with a comprehensive, 360-degree understanding of the health insurance payer framework and its practical impact on providers and patients alike.

In addition to his payer-side expertise, Dr. Massey has held numerous leadership and advisory positions. He is a former Chairman of the ACA Coding and Reimbursement Committee and currently consults with multiple state and national organizations. He is frequently retained as an expert legal witness in cases involving alleged malpractice, billing and payment inconsistencies, fraud, and standard-of-care issues.

A nationally recognized educator, he has spent years teaching and training healthcare professionals across the country on procedural and diagnostic coding, documentation, privacy, compliance, Medicare, and risk management. His teaching style is to reduce the sometimes complex and mundane administrative subjects to make them digestible, understandable, and even entertaining.

As a member of the American College of Chiropractic Consultants and the ACA Council on Forensic Sciences, he keeps his finger on the pulse of contemporary matters related to claims review and litigation trends.

Dr. Massey has served as President of the Tennessee Chiropractic Association and the Tennessee Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and he currently serves on the Board of Governors of the American Chiropractic Association. Alongside his consulting, teaching, and leadership responsibilities, he continues to maintain a busy solo clinical practice.
