Dr. Brandie Elizabeth Keates is a chiropractor, national speaker, and published author, and one of the most recognized voices in evidence-based prenatal and pediatric care. A former paramedic with nearly 25 years in practice, she built and scaled one of Pennsylvania's largest prenatal-focused chiropractic practices, work that earned her the U.S. SBA's 2023 Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year award for the Eastern Pennsylvania District. Today she treats pregnant patients exclusively, on one conviction: common is not the same as normal.
Dr. Keates teaches what chiropractic school does not. Pregnant women and infants are two of the most vulnerable populations a chiropractor will ever touch, and they are the two the curriculum prepares us for least. Her stance is blunt: if you are going to treat them, treat them right, grounded in research, matched to OB and pediatric guidelines, and safe enough that any physician would stand behind your care. Anything less is not advocacy, it is risk.
As an NCMIC sponsored speaker, she shows clinicians how to do exactly that, applying sports medicine to pregnancy so women return to the lives they love, and bringing the same rigor to infant care. Her work as a certified independent medical examiner, utilization reviewer, and expert witness for almost 20 years gives her an uncommon command of the medicolegal side, from protocols and documentation to the risk management that protects patient and practitioner alike. She is rigorous, fully compliant, inspiring, fun, and she sends clinicians home ready to change how they practice but also think on Monday.
Dr. Keates reluctantly came to chiropractic. Her oldest child drew her into the profession, and she spent her early career treating professional and Division I athletes. Then her youngest's pregnancy moved her focus to pregnant patients entirely. There, she saw that the same sports medicine that returns athletes to the field could return women to the lives they love and the things they need to do. That became her mission.
