2021 – what a year it was. Our Diamond Anniversary (75 years!) has been a great opportunity to celebrate our remarkable past, and, as we always do, look to the future. While the pandemic has presented all of us with unusual situations and circumstances no one has encountered before, DCs have continued to rise to the occasion. And we’ve been there to meet you.
Insuring More DCs Than Ever
We’re proud that NCMIC now insures more chiropractors than at any time in our company’s history. We’re honored that so many of you trust us with your livelihoods and careers – and that confidence is well-placed. I can say, unequivocally, that we have the most experienced defense and claims teams in the business. No one knows the nuances of a chiropractic practice the way these teams do – you want them on your side as they possess the skills and expertise you deserve.
As in 2020, we were able to offer PPP loans to DCs in need, bringing our total to over $11 million funded. What’s more, we were able to obtain forgiveness of 99.6 of those loans, helping over 700 practices stay afloat or breathe a little easier. We also awarded a total of $100,000 in scholarships to help chiropractic students with exam and school expenses. I am so proud that NCMIC was again able to assist the profession in these ways and more – and I am also proud of our employees.
NCMIC’s employees are the heart and soul of our company. They are the ones on the phones, making sure you have the coverage you need and the customer service you deserve. They’re the ones giving their time and talents to the community and causes they’re passionate about. They’re the ones who deserve credit for the awards we continue to receive, including:
- 2021 Top Workplaces, USA
- 2021 Top Workplaces, Iowa
- 2021 Champion of Chiropractic, the Iowa Chiropractic Society
- 2021 Inspiring Business for Women, Girl Scouts of Iowa
- 2021 Inclusion Award, the Greater Des Moines Partnership
And it’s because of our combined efforts – yours and our NCMIC employees – that we’re able to offer you a dividend for the 26th consecutive year. We’ve put nearly $160 million back in the pockets of policyholders over the years, and many of you have chosen to contribute to the NCMIC Foundation to advance chiropractic research. We’re grateful for your support – and so is the profession! In fact, this year, the NCMIC Foundation is funding recent chiropractic school graduates pursuing advanced degrees at Harvard, Yale and other institutions. These fellowships will prepare them for involvement in research, public policy and the advancement of the profession.
No doubt 2021 was truly special for NCMIC, where everything we do is with you and the future of chiropractic in mind. We will continue to be there for you, building on our proud culture and living by our motto, “We Take Care of Our Own.” Thank you for being part of the NCMIC family.
