Specifically for D.C.s

It's important to help protect your ability to receive an income with disability insurance. However, you want to make sure you select a plan that takes your profession as a chiropractor into consideration.

The D.C. Long Term Disability Insurance Plan, issued by The Prudential Insurance Company of America, is exclusively for DCs and geared to your needs.

Sponsored by NBAC

The contract holder for this plan is the National Business Association for Chiropractors (NBAC). NBAC was formed to help D.C.s with the business aspects of their personal planning and chiropractic career.

NBAC Memberership

As a member, you are eligible to apply for the Long Term Disability Insurance Plan if you are:

  • Under age 60
  • Working at least 30 hours per week
  • Reside in the U.S.

Your NBAC membership must remain active for your disability coverage to be in force.

If you are not currently a member of NBAC, membership is part of the D.C. Long Term Disability Insurance application process.

Routine Preventative/Wellness Care & Pre-Existing Conditions

Some disability policies treat elective care such as chiropractic care as evidence and treatment of a pre-existing condition, and will exclude coverage related to such care for a certain length of time.

With the D.C. Long Term Disability Insurance Plan, routine preventative/wellness care is not considered a pre-existing condition, as long as that care was not intended to treat an existing condition. This includes care by a licensed D.C. NBAC fought for this because NBAC understands the importance of regular chiropractic care.
