Q: If I have a small practice, do I still need Business Owners’ Coverage?
A: Absolutely. The size of your practice isn’t the issue – it’s about the risks you’re exposed to when you own a business. Business Owners’ Coverage is intended to protect you from the financial loss your practice could face, including:
- damage or destruction to your office equipment or inventory
- loss of income if your practice is temporarily closed because of a covered loss
- theft or loss of covered equipment
- crime coverage including robbery, burglary, even employee theft

Q: I’m self-employed and work from home. Do I still need Business Owners’ Coverage?
A: It doesn’t matter if your adjusting table is in your own house or you work out of a separate building. You need Business Owners’ Coverage. No matter how remote a risk may seem, just one tornado or one personal-injury claim could threaten your financial security.

Q: What kind of protection can I expect from Business Owners’ Coverage?
A: In general, Business Owners’ Coverage combines property insurance and general liability insurance into one package designed to suit the size of your practice. It covers the building itself and the contents and protects you from financial losses from claims and lawsuits that result when another person is injured at your practice.
Plus, you can customize your benefits with critical protection for computer crashes, replacement of patient records, accounts receivable reconstruction, workers’ compensation insurance, X-ray replacement
and much more.
Also included is protection from business interruption. That means you could continue to receive benefits for up to a year if your practice is disrupted due to a fire or other covered loss. It can also pay for the cost of operating out of a temporary location as well as your operating expenses – such as payroll – that continue even if your practice is closed.

Q: I already have Business Owners’ Coverage. Why should I check into coverage through NCMIC?
A: This is an easy and convenient way to determine if your current coverage has kept up with inflation and if your rates are still competitive. NCMIC will work with our partners and see if we can find better coverage for your premium. If so, we can help you switch – either now or when your current coverage comes up for renewal.
