Mutual Holding Company - Board of Directors
A progressive board of directors provides strategic leadership for National Chiropractic Mutual Holding Company (NCMHC) and its subsidiaries, including NCMIC Insurance Company. Serving on the board are:

John DeMatte III, D.C.
Dr. John DeMatte III (Director) is a long-time member of several chiropractic organizations including the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Society (PCS), which named him Chiropractor of the Year in 1976. In 1991, Dr. DeMatte was appointed by Pennsylvania Governor Bob Casey to the Pennsylvania State Board of Chiropractic and was reappointed by Governor Tom Ridge in 1995. He served as chairman of the board of the Pennsylvania State Board of Chiropractic from 1993 to 1994. He has also worked as a consultant for Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital in Lehighton, Pennsylvania, since 1993.
Dr. DeMatte is in private practice in Lehighton, Pennsylvania.

Claire Johnson, D.C., MSEd
Dr. Claire Johnson (Director) has emphasized in her career the elevatation of both the quality and the amount of chiropractic educational
research. Currently, she is a professor at National University of Health Sciences (NUHS). In obtaining her master’s
of health professions education from University of Southern California, Rossier School of Education, Dr. Johnson
focused on the creation of evidence-based practice skills throughout a chiropractic curriculum.
Dr. Johnson is also editor in chief for the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics,
Journal of Chiropractic Medicine, and Journal of Chiropractic Humanities.

Vincent P. Lucido, D.C.
Dr. Vincent Lucido (Director) served as president of the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) from 1989 to 1990, and was a member of the ACA House of Delegates. Currently, he is the president of the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER). Dr. Lucido was a member of the World Federation of Chiropractic Council, and a consultant and expert witness for the Florida Department of Professional Regulation. He is a faculty member in the post-graduate orthopedics program at National University
of Health Sciences and is the editor of D.C. Tracks, a chiropractic research publication.
Dr. Lucido is in private practice with his son in Lakeland, Florida.

Mary Selly-Navarro, R.D., D.C.
Dr. Mary Selly-Navarro (Director) is a long-standing and active member of several chiropractic organizations, including the Minnesota Chiropractic Association which elected her president from 2001 to 2002. Prior to serving as president she was chairwoman of the association’s ethics committee. Dr. Selly-Navarro is an adjunct faculty member at Northwestern College of Chiropractic (NWCC) and has instructed students in their clinical training for over 10 years. She was named Distinguished Alumnus of the Year at NWCC in 2003.

Marino R. Passero, D.C.
Dr. Marino Passero (Director) served as senior vice president of NCMIC Group, Inc. until 2005. He was chairman, Commission on Accreditation of the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE), as well as that organization's president. He has also served as chairman of the Connecticut State Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Dr. Passero has served as president of the Connecticut Chiropractic Association (CCA) and chairman of its board. He was named Chiropractor of the Year by the CCA in 1982, and by American Chiropractor magazine in 1985. Dr. Passero has lectured extensively on risk management topics.
Dr. Passero is in private practice in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Michael D. Pedigo, D.C.
Dr. Michael Pedigo (Director) is immediate past president of the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and past president of the California Chiropractic Association (CCA). He served as president of the International Chiropractors Association (ICA) from 1985 to 1988, and chairman of the board of the ICA in 1988 and 1989. He was named Chiropractor of the Year by the ICA in 1988 and American Chiropractic Association (ACA) in 1991, Doctor of the Year by the CCA in 1988 and 1998, Man of the Year by Dynamic Chiropractic newspaper in 1988, and Chiropractor of the Year by the ICA of California in 1976. Dr. Pedigo was a plaintiff in the Wilk vs. American Medical Association antitrust lawsuit.
Dr. Pedigo currently resides in Camino, California.

Louis Sportelli, D.C.
Dr. Sportelli (President) has been president and officer of NCMIC Group, Inc., since 1995.
He served as president (1998-2000) of the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC). He also served as chairman of the board of the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) from 1989 to 1990.
Dr. Sportelli has co-authored several risk management textbooks. He has authored Introduction to Chiropractic, a widely used patient education book, and has lectured throughout the United States, Australia, Canada, Europe and Mexico.
He currently serves on the advisory board of The Chiropractic Report newsletter, and has been a trustee of the Palmerton Hospital since 1992 and the newly merged Blue Mountain Health Systems board since 2004.

Wayne C. Wolfson, D.C.
Dr. Wayne C. Wolfson (Director) is a fellow of the American College of Chiropractors and past member of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations, Chiropractic Peer Review Committee. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida Bank of Commerce and the Florida Patient Safety Corporation.
Dr. Wolfson served in various leadership positions on the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine, the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards. He also served as a College Site Team Examiner for the Council on Chiropractic Education, Commission on Accreditation.
Dr. Wolfson was named Florida Chiropractor of the Year in 2002 by the Florida Chiropractic Association, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine in 2005 and was honored with the George Arvidson Award for meritorious service from the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards in 2007. He and his wife Ellen and their son William reside in Winter Park, Florida.

Bruce Beal – Vice President, Claims, NCMIC Insurance Company
Bruce Beal is vice president of claims for NCMIC Insurance Company, a subsidiary of NCMIC Group, Inc. He joined NCMIC's claims department in 1990 and, after serving in several capacities, was named vice president and appointed to senior management in 2002.
Beal is responsible for all aspects of the claims operation, with particular focus on reserving, indemnity payments and loss adjustment expenses, as well as matters of special interest.
Prior to joining NCMIC Insurance Company, Beal spent six years in claims with one of the Nationwide companies and five years with a Kemper subsidiary managing claims. Beal holds a BBA degree in insurance from the University of Iowa College of Business.

Judy Bohrofen – Vice President of Human Resources, NCMIC Group, Inc.
Judy Bohrofen is vice president of human resources for NCMIC Group, Inc., and its subsidiaries. Bohrofen came to NCMIC in 2001 from Principal Residential Mortgage/Principal Bank, where she served as vice president and human resources director. Prior to that post, she held positions as senior vice president and human resources director for Brenton Bank, corporate director of human resources for InterCoast Energy Company, and senior vice president and managing director of human resources for Norwest Card Services. Bohrofen holds a BA degree in business and marketing and an MA in counseling, both from the University of Northern Iowa.

Gregory M. Cole – President, NCMIC Finance Corporation
Gregory M. Cole joined NCMIC Finance Corporation as vice president in June 2001, managing the finance subsidiary of NCMIC Group, Inc.
With more than 20 years of experience in commercial, consumer and mortgage banking, Cole was most recently deputy senior regional credit officer with Wells Fargo Bank Iowa. Prior to that, Cole was senior vice president of credit underwriting at Brenton Bank and senior vice president of credit policy at NationsBank. Cole holds BA and MA degrees, both from the University of Iowa.

Eric Madcharo – Chief Information Officer, NCMIC Group, Inc.
Eric Madcharo is the chief information officer for NCMIC Group, Inc., and its subsidiaries.
Madcharo, who joined NCMIC in January 1999, has amassed more than 16 years of professional information systems expertise in insurance/financial services, health care and marketing.
Prior to joining NCMIC, he was director of systems for a regional medical-malpractice carrier. During his tenure, Madcharo developed, programmed, and distributed the SEXTANT software application, which is focused data tracking within the health care community. In addition to SEXTANT, Madcharo has developed four additional software products for use within the health care and marketing industries.
Madcharo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Patrick E. McNerney – Chief Executive Officer, NCMIC Group, Inc.
Patrick McNerney is chief executive officer of NCMIC Group, Inc., the holding-company parent of all of the NCMIC
companies.
McNerney came to NCMIC Group in 1996 as executive vice president of NCMIC Finance Corporation. The Finance Corporation
was originally created to provide premium payment plans for NCMIC Insurance Company’s policyholders. McNerney
was responsible for leading the finance company as it expanded into new businesses such as equipment financing, business
credit cards, and other financing needs of the health care professional.
In April 1999, McNerney was promoted to president and chief operating officer of NCMIC Finance Corporation. In early
2001, he assumed the role of president of NCMIC Insurance Company and the role of executive vice president of NCMIC
Group. In 2005, McNerney was promoted again to chief executive officer of NCMIC Group, Inc. As chief executive officer
of NCMIC Group, Inc., he is responsible for the overall direction of NCMIC Group, as well as all of the support functions
of Information Systems, Marketing, Human Resources, Compliance and Accounting.
McNerney received his BA degree from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and an MBA from the University
of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota. He is an honors graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
McNerney brings more than 20 years of financial expertise to the company from his prior positions in banking. Before
joining NCMIC McNerney was president of Boatmen’s Bank of Des Moines.

Jonathan C. Roth – Chief Marketing Officer, NCMIC Group, Inc.
Jonathan C. Roth is the chief marketing officer for NCMIC Group, Inc., and its subsidiaries. Roth joined NCMIC in April 2006.
Roth has nearly 20 years of experience in insurance and financial services marketing, with an emphasis in marketing, strategic planning, e-business and product development. Most recently, Roth was the senior vice president of marketing for Kum & Go, L.C., where he led marketing efforts for their 430 convenience stores. Prior to that, he was senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Principal Residential Mortgage, Inc., vice president of marketing for GE Vendor Financial Services, and held various senior management and leadership roles with John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company and Fortis Insurance Company.
Roth holds a BA degree from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois, and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

Roger L. Schlueter – CFO/Treasurer & Corp. Secretary
Roger L. Schlueter is CFO/Treasurer & Corp. Secretary for NCMIC Group, Inc., and its subsidiary companies. He joined NCMIC Group in November 1998 from Healthcare Underwriters Mutual Insurance Company (HUM) and the HUM Group of Companies in Latham, New York, where he had been vice president and chief financial officer and a member of the board of directors.
At NCMIC, Schlueter is responsible for directing the financial affairs of the group and its subsidiaries, including regulatory matters, financial reporting and treasury management. He is also responsible for tax planning, accounting, budgeting and duties as corporate secretary.
Prior to his 15 years with HUM, Schlueter spent seven years as a financial manager at the Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, New York. He began his career with Haskins & Sells, Certified Public Accountants (now Deloitte & Touche).

Rod Warren – President, NCMIC Insurance Company and NCMIC Insurance Services
Warren joined the senior management team in April 2001, bringing with him more than 14 years of experience in the life, annuity, health, and group insurance industries. Prior to joining the company, he was director of Life and Annuity Operations for AmerUs Life. He previously held management positions with ING-Equitable/USG, Principal Financial Group and Farmland Insurance Companies. Warren received his BBA and MBA degrees from the University of Iowa. He also has earned his CPCU, CLU, ChFC, FLMI/M, CEBS, AAM, AIM, ARP, ACS and ALHC professional designations.
